Daily Bread is one of our weekly bits, we created it in hopes of memorizing more verses for ourselves and to also encourage others to do the same. Memory verses are an important part of growing with Christ. I don’t know how many times I have heard people say “I don’t hear from God” … well how are you supposed to hear from God when you don’t even recognize His voice? These verses allow you to constantly have His voice in your reach, which can help you triumph over whatever you are going through both now and always. As much as our physical body needs food (bread) for survival, our spiritual body needs His word to survive. If you wouldn’t skip a meal or go a day without eating, you probably shouldn’t go a day without spiritual food as well. Trust me, Eric and I do not have everything figured out, nobody does, but it is a great step in progress to becoming a better Christian and just a happier and healthier person. I know that for me personally memory verses have been something I have struggled with a lot, I tend to memorize the gist of a verse rather than word by word and honestly this causal way of learning has cost me. I have very few verses memorized because I was not diligent with them. I am excited to improve in this area and this podcast is definitely a wonderful place to have accountability to do so, practice what you preach right? So here is our first scripture to go along with our first podcast:
Romans 8:28 “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.” HCSB
In times of stress and confusion we can take these words to heart knowing that even though we might feel out of control and lost that He has a plan and His plan is for good. It is ok to not know what is going to happen next as long as you can trust and lean on God. Even when things are constantly changing around you, He has never changed; He is the same today, yesterday, and forever. If we can truly live by these words, we know that even if something that is heartbreaking has occurred something positive will eventually come out of it. So, whenever life knocks you down know that it is only temporary, and God is right there to lift you back up and head you in the direction of your purpose.
